As the team behind FreshStore, we spend a lot of time working with affiliate links. And one thing we’ve learned is that broken affiliate links are far more common than most people realise. They cost commissions and undermine the work you put into your stores.

So we decided to build a simple, free tool to help.

What does it do?

Affiliate Link Test analyses your affiliate links and tells you what’s actually happening when someone clicks them. It checks for any redirects, shows if the affiliate tag is present, flags any issues with the link structure, and gives you a clear summary of what’s working and what isn’t.

Why we built it

Working on FreshStore, we regularly hear from affiliate marketers who’ve been running links for months – sometimes years – without realising something was off. Maybe a redirect was stripping their affiliate ID. Maybe a programme changed its URL structure. Maybe a link was simply pointing to a 404 page.

These aren’t edge cases. They happen all the time, and the frustrating part is they’re invisible until you go looking.

We wanted a tool that made it easy to go looking.

Does FreshStore Check Affiliate Links?

Yes, if you are using FreshStore, there are built in tools that already check your affiliate links. Your store dashboard will warn you if you don’t have any affiliate tags set. Our guides help you setup your links in the correct way.

This tool does not replace that, but it gives you extra confidence that the links are correct. It can also check affiliate links on other platforms like WordPress or your social media pages.

What it checks

When you test a link, AffiliateLinkTest.com walks through the full redirect path and reports back on a few key things:

  • Redirect chain – every redirect from your original URL to the final destination, so you can see exactly where traffic ends up.
  • Affiliate tag detection – confirmation that your affiliate ID or tracking parameter is present at the right point in the chain.
  • HTTP status codes – whether each step returns a healthy response or flags an error.
  • Potential issues – anything unusual, like unexpected redirects, missing parameters, or broken endpoints.
